We can defrost food in the microwave or in the refrigerator, never at room temperature because this allows the rapid development of bacteria.
The microwave can be used to defrost small and thin pieces by activating the "defrost" or "defrost" option.
In the refrigerator, frozen foods should be placed in a clean and waterproof container in the lower part of the refrigerator a few hours before cooking, so that the secretion released by meat or fish does not fall on top of other foods and contaminate them. Defrosting in the refrigerator can also start the night before preparation.
It is not necessary to defrost vegetables. We can introduce them frozen in boiling water or in frying oil, always in small portions so as not to reduce the temperature.
Once thawed, food should be cooked quickly.
