Foot Pain in the Heel

Foot pain is a feeling of pain or discomfort in the foot which can be in the form of feelings of pain or tingling to pain such as being punctured. Foot pain is often caused due to injury. Foot pain can occur in the heel, big toe, other sore fingers, soles of the feet, and ankles. Foot pain can take a variety of forms, ranging from tingling, aching, burning, pricking, until a burning sensation.

The feet take you to various places. But you might not think much about feet until the feet hurt. When the pain hurts, you want to immediately relieve it. To get the right treatment, you need to know the problem. The first thing to consider is where your pain is.

Foot Heel Pain

If your pain is in the heel, you may have plantar fasciitis. This condition is an irritation or inflammation of the tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes. Usually, the worst pain in the morning when you wake up. You can feel it in the heel or in the curve of your foot.

Here are tips for treating heel pain:

  • Rest your feet
  • Stretch your heels and leg muscles

Heel spurs

Heel spurs are another source of leg pain. Spurs are an abnormal growth of bone in the lower heel. You can get it by wearing the wrong shoes or because of the way of walking or abnormal posture, or even from activities such as running. Spurs may hurt when you walk or stand. Many people have spurs, but most do not have pain. People with flat feet or excessive arches are more likely to have painful heel spurs.

Bruised Heel

A hardened bruise is a deep bruise from a fat pad from the heel or foot ball. This is often the result of an injury, but can also occur after stepping on a hard object. Foot pain feels like walking on gravel. Will gradually disappear by itself.

Heel fracture

Symptoms of Foot Pain in the Heel

The following are some of the symptoms of heel or plantar fasciitis pain:

  • Foot pain at the bottom of the heel

  • The pain is usually worse when it arises
  • The pain has increased for several months
  • Swelling at the bottom of the heel

People with plantar fasciitis usually feel foot pain worse when they wake up in the morning or after they sit for a long time. After a few minutes of walking, the pain decreases because walking stretches the fascia. For some people, the pain subsides but returns after spending a long time on their feet.

Diagnosis of Foot Pain in the Heel

The foot and ankle surgeon will get your medical history and examine the foot to arrive at a diagnosis. During this process, the surgeon rules out all possible causes of heel pain in addition to plantar fasciitis.

In addition, diagnostic imaging, such as x-ray or other imaging modalities, can be used to distinguish different types of heel pain. Sometimes heel spurs are found in patients with plantar fasciitis, but this is rarely a source of pain. When they are present, this condition can be diagnosed as plantar fasciitis/heel spurs syndrome.
