Can a stent cause back pain?

Question: Since my heart attack and stenting I suffer from back pain constantly. Painkillers don't relieve me and physical therapy only calms me down a bit. Can the pain be caused by the stent or can it be due to another cause? Jorge (Colombia).

Answer: It gives the impression that the pain you are telling us is of mechanical characteristics (it appeared after a procedure in which you spent time lying down, it is continuous and improved with physical therapy). As you comment, it does not seem related to the efforts. If it had been for a stent thrombosis, you would have had precordial oppression for a few hours, and then it would have disappeared, in addition to presenting changes in the electrocardiogram.
