Children should not drink coffee. Coffee contains caffeine, a stimulating substance in the brain that causes many other effects; Therefore, it is not recommended for children. Caffeine should also not be taken in soft drinks, such as cola drinks. Children are more susceptible to the effects of caffeine and, therefore, this substance, taken in excess, causes nervousness, irritability, insomnia, and even tachycardia and palpitations, disorders that in children could occur with much lower doses. In the adult population, coffee is becoming a beneficial substance in several aspects, such as a great antioxidant and brain tonic. Despite this fact, caffeine is not recommended for the elderly or for children in general, but its consumption is reserved for adulthood.
